Mickey Mouse's House

Alivia has been asking to go to Mickey Mouse's House for months now, and how can I say no to such a sweet little face. We decided to go on Matt's Birthday, for a couple reasons, it's in the fall and wouldn't be too hot, Disney let's you in free on your birthday, and my mom was in town to help out with the kids.

Once inside, a quick trip on the submarine to see Nemo, then off to Toon Town to meet Mickey. The first stop was a visit with Goofy. Aaron was too shy to say hello to any of the characters. Here they are in line to meet Minnie and Mickey Having a snack in Minnie's KitchenMy Sleeping Beauty Alivia was also very excited to meet Pooh and friends, Aaron on the other hand decided he would just watch, but he did insist that his "Pengy" go and meet the gang. The kids loved splashing around on this giant floating rock,

while the grown-ups took turns riding Space Mountain.The kids favorite ride, Dumbo. Even Baylee & Nathan loved it.The other favorite ride was the Carousel And of course to remember this wonderful day we had to purchase some special souvenirs

A Day in the Park

Day two of the evacuation...
We spent most of the day at this great park we found near the beach in San Diego. The mandatory evacuation order was still in place, so no going home yet. We did hear that they were considering allowing us back in around 4pm, so we were just finding something to do until an announcement was made. Unfortunately, the decision was not what we wanted to hear, another night away from home.

Aaron was being very adventurous this day. He was determined to climb from one end to the other of this green climby thing. He did it with help a couple times, then told me "no help, mommy" and was so excited he was able conquer the climby thing all by himself.

A Forest Fire and The Air Show

Saturday afternoon a brush fire broke out about 10 miles from our house, the Sheep Fire. I was keeping a close eye on the news, and wasn't too worried about it as we went to bed that night. But at 2:30 in the morning we had firefighters pounding at the door telling us there was a mandatory evacuation and we needed to leave soon. We started packing up anything irreplaceable we could fit in the car. About an hour later we were on the road. We already had plans to drive down to San Diego for the Miramar Air Show, we just didn't plan on leaving that early, so after a quick stop at the airport of drop off Matt's car we were on our way.

I found these photos online. The photo above was taken several hours after we left. Our home is only one street away from the houses pictured. In the picture below you can get a better view of just how close the fire came to our house.

The weather wasn't the best for being outside, as long as the sun was shining through the clouds it was warm, but most of the day it was chilly and windy. We arrived at the Air Show at about 9:30am, the kids were loving it and really enjoyed checking out all the planes. The main event was the Blue Angels, but they didn't start until 3:00pm. So keeping the kids busy 'til then was a struggle. They finally fell asleep just before the Blue Angels started, and surprisingly slept through all the noise.

Field trip

This weekend the mom's group I'm in set up a field trip to the LA County Fair. I wasn't sure if I would be able to go with so many kids and too few of me, but another mom offered to car pool with me and help out so off we went. The kids were very excited to see the animals. We saw goats, cows, chickens, pigs, bunnies, zebras, camels, ostriches, birds, snakes and dinosaurs. The dinosaurs were a little too realistic for Alivia, she got scared and started crying and asking to go home. Aaron said he was scared too, but didn't cry or cling to me like Alivia did. We stayed for about 3 hours, which was plenty of time to see everything we wanted to see, the kids stayed in the stroller most of the time, but I was pretty worn out from pushing them all around. Baylee did great. She just loved sitting up in the stroller watching everyone and everything go by.
