Bathroom Makeover

My bathroom was in need of a makeover!  The faucets were the worst part, the water barely came out, the stoppers didn't work and the brass was so tarnished it looked like I never cleaned them.  So while Matt was out of town working on our house in Florida I decided to take on a big painting project.  I easily fixed the water problem by replacing the aerator, and replaced the stopper parts.  Now the hard part, I bought 3 cans of RustOleums Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint, some primer and blue tape. Total cost about $30.  I found some old house wrap in my garage and used that as the drop cloth to cover everything else in the bathroom. Once everything was covered I started painting.  This was the hard part because my bathroom only has one little window and the paint was to be used in a "well ventilated area" so I could only paint for a minute then come back after the fumes died down.  Some things like the light fixtures and the bathtub faucet I was able to  take out.  I love the way my bathroom looks now!  I'm still working on the closet, so I'll post that next.  By the way Matt had no idea what I was planning, but he loved it too.

Run For Your Lives

I let my sister talk me into a Zombie 5k run. I had started running for exercise this spring and it made since to run a 5k, but a zombie run? It turned out really fun, cold, but fun.  My sister and her husband flew in the night before.  We had about an hour and a half drive to Temecula, and the weather wasn't really in our favor, cool and rainy.  But we were able to meet up with our cousin and his wife which made the day even more fun.  The race itself wasn't really a race, it was more of a 'stay away from the zombies who are trying to take flags off our belts' run. Next years race will be close by, so maybe I'll get a group together and go again.

First Day of Kindergarten

My babies are off to school!  They were pretty excited about it, so no worries here.  Alivia really loves school and is disappointed we have weekends off.  Aaron has his bad days and just doesn't want to go, he ended up staying home one day when he wasn't feeling well leaving Alivia the only student in class with perfect attendance.

Little Swimmers

I'm so proud of my little swimmers!  We did two full weeks of swim lesson before getting to grandma's pool this summer. Alivia is my little fish, she was able to swim the length of the pool with no floaties!

Happy Birthday Nathan!

Today is Nathan's golden Birthday (turning 14 on the 14th). It's been so long since Nathan has spent a birthday at home.  He's usually with grandparents during the summer, but not this year!  We started the day by taking Nathan out for breakfast, and ended with friends, pizza, cake, ice cream and a little local concert in the park.

Nathan has been great this last year, he is always helping out when he can and loves being a big brother.  Less arguing at chore time and a little improvement on keeping his room clean.  Still struggling in school, but not because school is too difficult, but because he's not finishing homework.  He really needs to step up going into 8th grade.  He is starting to like reading though which is great!  He will take turns with me reading to the kids at night, very cute, the kids love having Nathan read to them!

Backyard Camp Out

The kids really wanted to have a camp out!  Matt had this week off so it was a good time to set up the tent, start a camp fire and have a family backyard camp night.  We made s'mores,  looked for bats, watched for shooting stars, and slept snuggled up all together in the tent.  So much better than real camping!

Alivia's on two wheels

I knew Alivia wouldn't be too far behind.  She finally decided she wanted to ride her bike like a big kid, and not too much longer she was up and riding.

Cherries and more Cherries

Finally after 3 years we have cherries on our trees!  Overall I think we picked about 40 lbs. of cherries.

Father's Day at the Beach

It's been a while since we've been to the ocean, so down to Dana Point we went.  We like to go to Doheny State Beach.  It was a nice warm day, although pretty windy.  The kids of course loved it.  They all wanted to try to boogie board.  Nathan went out for a little while, but I think he was too cold.  Baylee spent most of the time playing in the sand, and my water baby Alivia spent most the time in the waves.  Aaron was happy curled up in the chair with a snack.
